How to Register a Domain Name in Hong Kong

Top-level domains are the label that follows the domain name of website addresses. The most common and well known top-level domain is ".com." While ".com" is the most popular, there are many other top-level domains available, including two letter codes used for countries and territories. The top-level domain for Hong Kong is ".hk," and many businesses and individuals create ".hk" domains for marketing or informational purposes.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open your web browser and navigate to Asia Registry (the link is found in the Resources section at the bottom of this page).

  2. Step 2

    Type the domain name in the "1. Enter Name" box.

  3. Step 3

    Place a mark next to ".hk," ".hk.com" or both in the "2. Select Domain" menu.

  4. Step 4

    Click the "Check" button under "3. Check Domain" to see if the domain is available.

  5. Step 5

    Place a checkmark next to the available domain names you want to register.

  6. Step 6

    Enter the security code and click "Continue to Register."

  7. Step 7

    Enter your username and password. If you do not have a username or password, register with the site by filling in your information in the "User Account Details" section.

  8. Step 8

    Select how many years you want to register the domain name for under "Registration Term."

  9. Step 9

    Type the complete and legal name of the registrant in the "Registrant Name" box.

  10. Step 10

    Choose the registrant type in the "Registrant Type" drop down menu.

  11. Step 11

    Select your ".com.hk" registry choice, if you have chosen to use a ".com.hk" domain. You need residence in Hong Kong if you choose to use a ".com.hk" domain. If you do not have residence in Hong Kong, choose "Asiaregistry will act as my agent in Hong Kong."

  12. Step 12

    Select the person who will receive contact information in the boxes named "Registrant Contact," "Admin Contact," "Technical Contact" and "Billing Contact," and click "Continue."

  13. Step 13

    Choose where the DNS servers in the "DNS Servers" box.

  14. Step 14

    Register an international phone number in the "PhNUM-Global Phone Numbers" box, if you would like to setup an international phone number.

  15. Step 15

    Select web and email hosting in the "Web and Email Hosting" box, if you would like Asia Registry to host your website.

  16. Step 16

    Enter a promotional code in the "Promotional Code" box, if you have a promotional code.

  17. Step 17

    Enter your payment information and click "Order."
