Things You'll Need:
- Visual Studio disc
-
Step 1
Turn on your machine, and let your regular operating system load. Once everything is booted up, put your Visual Studio disc into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. A window should appear on your screen asking if you would like to boot the CD. If your auto-run does not work, click on "Start" at the bottom left. Then click on "My Computer." Double click on the drive with the image of a CD next to it to launch the disc. Click on the icon that says "Setup."
-
Step 2
Click on the text that follows option one in the setup window, "Install Visual Studio." This will allow you to quickly install the software. If you want, you can click on "View ReadMe" before doing so to learn more details about the program. Wait for your machine to download the temporary files it needs for the install.
-
Step 3
Look at the new window that appears. It has the license agreement on the right and a warning to close other applications on the left. You should not have any other applications open since you just booted your machine. However, double check and close any you had set to auto-launch on start-up. Read the license agreement and click "Print" if you would like a paper copy. Click on the "I Accept" box and type your first name in the box at the bottom of the window. Click "Continue."
-
Step 4
Look at the left side of the new window. You will see a list of all the features you can install, with each preceded by a check box. You want at least .NET Framework and Visual Studio Enterprise Architect. If you are not sure what else you need, leave all of the other boxes checked for the default full install. Click "Browse" on the right side of the screen if you don't want your software saved in "Program Files" on the C drive. You can save it anywhere you like as long as you can find it later. When ready, click "Install."
-
Step 5
Wait for the software to install. It will take several minutes. Your computer will restart when it is done. After the restart, you can begin configuring the software.
