How to Conceal a Ground Blind
A ground blind is a hiding place for a wild-game observer or hunter. Concealing a ground blind is important to keep wild game from spotting the person and to hide any movements that might startle the animal. Birds, deer, squirrels and even bears may be observed or hunted in this fashion.

1
Build the blind frame and cover it with camouflage tarp or cloth. Cloth is best since it won't make noise in the wind. Dark or camouflage rope is best for holding the frame together and the cloth or tarp to the frame.
-
2
Use dead branches, leaves, etc to cover the blind on all sides. Completely covering it is not necessary but the more coverage the better. Choose materials that will blend in with the background.
-
-
3
Add enough live, natural material to make the blind blend in. Observe the area around the blind from various angles, and add materials where needed to help it blend in.
-
4
Enter the blind and cut small holes in the cloth or tarp for observing the wildlife.
-
5
Walk around the blind and observe it again from all angles. Once the blind is built, you want it to blend in as much as possible. Cover any shiny pieces or things that stand out. Put your chair in the blind and make sure it can't be seen from outside.

Tips & Warnings
Location is key to a successful blind. Not only should it be near the wildlife you wish to observe, but it should also be located where it will easily blend into the surroundings. Never place a blind directly on a game trail. If possible, don't build a blind the first day you intend to use it. No matter how well you conceal it, local animals will notice that something is out of place.
Be sure to check state and local laws. In some areas, it may be unlawful to cut live material to use for your blind. However, many synthetic or substitute materials are available.
