How to Use WinRAR Software
WinRAR software provides an easy method for compressing and decompressing files for storage and transport on portable drives, email or other uses. Browse for files you would like to compress into a single file by using the file window at the bottom of the main program window. Select a single file or select multiple files by clicking and dragging your mouse or by clicking individual files while pressing and holding CTRL.

Click the "Add" button to modify the parameters of the compressed file you are about to create. Here you can select a name and location for the compressed file, as well as archiving options such as authenticity verification, compression method, archive format (RAR or ZIP) and other parameters. Press "OK" to create the file.

Extract the contents of a compressed file by selecting the file in the file window and clicking "Extract To." Here you can select the destination path and choose whether to replace existing files in the destination folder. Click "OK" to extract the files.

Test a compressed file for errors by selecting the file in the file window and clicking the "Test" button. If WinRAR finds any errors, it will warn you in a pop-up window.

View the contents of a compressed file by selecting the file in the file window and clicking the "View" button.

Tips & Warnings
WinRAR can interface with your antivirus software to perform virus checks on compressed files. To make this connection, click the "VirusScan" button in WinRAR and browse for your virus scanner. Click "OK" when finished.
