A chat room is a part of a website where you can interact with users in a group by means of posting messages in a central location. It's different from instant messaging in that a chat room is public while an instant message is private. There are many websites that were created solely for the purpose of chatting, while other websites have chat rooms within them (for example, AOL.com). Some chat rooms give you immediate access, but others require you to sign up and create a screen name. One such site is wireclub.com.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open a new browser window, type "www.wireclub.com" and press Enter on your keyboard.

  2. Step 2

Locate and click on the link on the right side of the page that says "Choose a Username." You can also click "Join Now!" at the top of the page.

  3. Step 3

Type your desired username in the white box under "Choose a Username." Pick a name that you can remember easily, like a nickname.

  4. Step 4

Type a password in the next box. Confirm your password in the third box and, finally, enter your email address in the final box.

  5. Step 5

Click the "Create My Account" button. This will take you to another page to enter additional information about yourself. Press "Continue" at the bottom when you are finished.

  6. Step 6

Scroll down the page to the "Go Chat!" link. Click it to take you to a room. Choose a chat room and begin chatting with other people.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful of the personal information you share in your profile and in the chat room. Nothing on the Internet is private.
