A duplexing scanner is a great office tool that saves time and makes scanning simple. If you have never used a scanner with a duplexing option, you may be a little confused as to how to use it. Don't worry. It's quite simple to learn how to place and feed the paper on a duplex scanner.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the scanner to see which direction to put the paper, face up or face down. The scanner will have a symbol of a piece of paper with a folded corner. There will be writing depicted either on the front of the paper or on the fold. If the writing is on the fold, then the paper should be flipped over. This only matters if you have writing on one side or if the back will be printed differently.

    • 2

Put the paper on the feed tray to the scanner and not on the glass. It needs to go through a feeder so that it can flip the paper over. Most scanners do not have the ability to take paper off of the scanning glass and flip it.

    • 3

Don't put more papers than will fit easily on top of the feeder. This could cause the duplexer to jam. Push the paper so it just hits the edge of the scanning device without putting any force on it.

    • 4

Wait for the paper to go through the scanner. Watch for it to come out the back and flip over before going back into the duplexing part of the scanner. If the paper only went through once, it might not have scanned both sides.
