fix a Leapster2 when the screen won't respond

The new Leapster 2 from Leapfrog is a great educational video game system that entertains your children while they actually learn something. While these are usually very durable from time to time an issue will come up like the screen not responding to the stylus. If this happens you will not be able to move past the first screen after turning the device on. Follow these easy instructions on how to recalibrate your screen and let the kids get back to having fun.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a Leapster2 hand held game system
  1. Step 1

Turn off the Leapster2 and remove any video game cartridge.

  2. Step 2

Push and hold down the Hint button while the game is off. It is the little button with a question mark.

  3. Step 3

Turn back on the game system while continuing to hold the Hint button until you see the calibration screen.

  4. Step 4

Once you see the calibration screen you can let go of the Hint button. Press the A button to enter the screen calibration.

  5. Step 5

You will see a little plus sign, use the stylus to touch the center of the plus sign. Repeat this until you return to the calibration screen.

  6. Step 6

Turn off the unit and turn back on without a cartridge. You should now be able to sign in as usual! Hooray you did it!

Tips & Warnings
  • If this doesn't work call Leapfrog at 800-701-5327
  • If your child is old enough to figure this out consider teaching them how to fix the game if you feel they can do it correctly. This teaches them that electronics shouldn't be disposable and can be fixed, as well as helping them problem solve on their own.
  • Follow all instructions that came with your game about properly turning it on and off
