Step 1
Start out by shopping around to make sure that you have a cell phone plan that fits you. If you do not have a contract with your current cell phone provider, see if you can get a better deal by switching to a different cell phone company. If you do have a contract with a cell phone provider and you find a better deal with another company, try to negotiate prices with your current cell phone service provider by letting them know about the deals that you found with the other companies.
-
Step 2
Get rid of features that you do not need on your cell phone plan. If you do not use internet, text messages, email or any other feature that is costing you on your monthly cell phone bill, get rid of it. Stop wasting money on cell phone features that you do not need. You can work with your cell phone provider to find a plan that works best for you.
-
Step 3
Look into getting a family plan. Most cell phone companies will allow you to start family plans to save you money. Get some friends or family members together to discuss getting a family plan to save all of you money. Make sure that if you do get a family plan, that you will have enough minutes and all of the features that each person requires. Compare prices for family plans with other cell phone providers to see where you can get the best deal.
-
Step 4
Do not waste money on downloads. If you are downloading ringtones, backgrounds, applications or anything else on your phone that costs money then you are wasting money. Only download applications that are necessary for business. All of these things cost extra money that you do not need to be spending. Cut back on the things that you do not need and you will save tons of money on your cell phone bill.

on 9/10/2009 Telemechus, to augment your great tips about lowering cell bills, I wanted to add that I work in the consumer advocacy division of the company Validas, where we electronically audit and subsequently reduce the average cell bill by 22 percent through our website, http://www.fixmycellbill.com. Put simply, Validas guards against the frivolous and unnecessary charges that over-inflate an estimated 80 percent of cell bills. You can find out for free if fixmycellbill.com can modify your plan to better suit your individual needs by going to the website.
For more info, check out Validas in the media, most recently on Fox News at http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/consumer/conlaw/lower_cell_phone_bills_072409.
Good luck to everyone on further reducing wireless expenses in this tough economy.
