How to Put Grip Tape On Your New Skateboard Deck

When you buy a new skateboard deck you will need to either have the skate shop put your grip tape on or you will have to put it on.

Once you get the hang of it you will see that it is not so difficult. Once you get the hang of it all your friends will want you to help them with their grip tape.

You can buy grip tape at any skate shop.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • skateboard deck
  • grip tape
  • razor
  • screw driver
  • patience
  1. Step 1

    Peel the back off the grip tape carefully.

  2. Step 2

    stick it evenly on the board - from nose to tail - making sure you do not have any air bubbles. Take your time.

  3. Step 3

    Press it down hard.

  4. Step 4

    take a screwdriver and go around the edge to get an impression of where to cut the grip tape.

  5. Step 5

    Use a razor blade at an angle to get the excess grip tape off. Once you put on the trucks and wheels you are all ready to go.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful you lay it down flat on the board so there are no air bubbles
  • Be careful that you cut it correctly - if not it will be jagged or ripped
