Instructions

    • 1

First, measure your kitchen counter so you will know how much tile to buy. Pick a tile that will add life to your kitchen.

    • 2

Next make sure the surface of your kitchen counter is smooth.

    • 3

Begin applying mortar to your kitchen counter with a notched trowel.

    • 4

Next, starting from where the wall and counter meet, begin laying the tile on the counter while placing spacers in between each tile. Continue going all the way across. If you have too much tile for around the sink or stove area (if your stove is in the island area) use a tile cutter to cut the tile to fit in those areas.

    • 5

Once all the tiles have been layed, let it dry for 24 hours.

    • 6

The next day, take out the spacers and apply grout in between the tiles using a rubber float and push the grout in between the tiles.

    • 7

Next, wipe away any access grout with a wet sponge. Clean and dry your new tiled kitchen counter.

In about two weeks apply a sealant to your tiled counter. Try not to use the newly tiled counter during this period.
