Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • round dish or pie plate
  • splash of milk
  • Jiffy pie mix
  • 10 oz. can potatoes
  • 10 oz. can mixed veggies
  • 10 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
  1. Step 1

If you buy all the ingredients on sale, you should be able to get the potatoes, mixed veggies, and Jiffy mix for around 80 cents, the cream of mushroom soup around $1, and the can of chicken for somewhere around $1.50, bringing your total to a hair under $5.

  2. Step 2

Make the top and bottom crust for the pie as directed on the Jiffy box. They don't give you a ton of dough, so you'll have to roll it pretty thin to cover the pie.

  3. Step 3

Drain all cans well. Take a medium-sized bowl and mix the veggies, potatoes, chicken and soup. You may have to pull apart the chicken pieces if they are in big chunks, or you can leave them whole. Add a quick splash of milk. This helps prevent the dish from drying out in the oven.

  4. Step 4

Pour the vegetable//chicken/soup mixture on top of the bottom crust that is now in the bottom of your dish. Use a spatula or other tool to even out the mixture. Cover it with the top of the pie crust, poke a hole in the crust and bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and pie is steaming. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • The cans of chicken help to make the pie quicker and more cost effective. Of course, you can use fresh chicken and vegetables if you wish. Just make sure the chicken is cooked well before you bake the pie.
