A home town vacation should be especially fun and exciting for those who live in a historical area. There should be plenty of events happening on a regular basis. Plan a whole day or weeks worth of travel around the historical area. Plan a walking tour or guided tour to monuments, museums, statues, historical buildings. Select one specific area for each day of the hometown vacation.

Have fun, dress like a tourist, take along your digital camera, camcorder, buy souvenirs, postcards. Look at the town through a tourist eyes. This instantly gives a fresh perspective on the town.

Visit the restaurants and tourist spots that local tourist visit. Order foods that are local favorites or specialties of the house. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and good walking shoes with a large totes or backpack. And most of all really enjoy yourself ... like tourist on a real family vacation!

Keep a scrapbook of all the places the family visited. Add the pictures that were taken and any small souvenirs. Write notes on places visited and personal impressions.
