Step 1
Tomato seeds are best started in seed starters until they grow large enough to withstand outdoor temperatures and weather.
-
Step 2
Take a growing flat or seed stater container and fill with potting mix.
-
Step 3
Dampen the mix slightly but don't over water.
-
Step 4
Insert one or two tomato seeds in each section of the growing flat. Completely cover each seed with soil.
-
Step 5
Water every other day or when top of soil becomes dry.
-
Step 6
When plants are approximately 2 to 3 inches high, replant outdoors if desired. Otherwise transfer to larger containers to sit on patios or balcony. Note that plants should not be planted outdoors until two to three weeks after the last frost.
