Things You'll Need:
- a nasty car seat cover
- stain remover
- mild detergeant
-
Step 1
Babies would not be babies if they did not spit up, overly fill out the diaper, and decorate a large area of the car seat cover. They are still adorable, but the mess it definitely not!
-
Step 2
Assess the mess. It could just be a little spot about two inches or so that is wipe able with mild detergent, and a wet wash cloth.
-
Step 3
If it's larger, or is baby vomit or diarrhea you definitely need to machine was it. That's more sanitary, and less likely to cause you to want to throw up at the mere smell of it.
-
Step 4
Unless you have the directions for installing the shoulder straps to the car seat, make sure you pay extra attention when you start to unstrap it. It will depend on what kind of car seat you have as to specific directions on undoing it. Check the padding under the car seat cover and see if it also need to be washed.
-
Step 5
Once you have the car seat cover itself off take it to your washer. Put stain remover on the affected area and put it through the gentle cycle setting. Put the temperature of the washing machine setting the car seat cover states. Do the same with the padding if it is dirty.
-
Step 6
Once it is done being washed, put it into the dryer on no heat or low heat. You might be able to get away with some heat, but the cover may shrink a little.
