If you aren't discovered by a modeling agent or model scout, you can still learn how to model and take the steps into becoming one. There are a few steps you can take in order to become a model. DO YOUR RESEARCH ON MODELING AGENCIES
Find a list of modeling agencies and do you research. Look to see what jobs they have booked models for, how long the modeling agency has been in business. Also check to see if the modeling agency asks you to pay for any fees just to be represented by them. BE PREPARED BY LEARNING HOW TO MODEL
You can take modeling classes at modeling schools or you can find modeling workshops. It is not required to go to a modeling school to learn how to model, as you can learn on your own by looking at how models pose in magazines, catalogs, etc... You can learn how to walk like a model by watching runway shows or even America's Next Top Model. -

BUILD A MODELING PORTFOLIO
Work on building a modeling portfolio so you can get more comfortable in front of a camera. You could even try to find TFP (Time For Print) photographers that will do a photo shoot for free in exchange for your time. Once you have taken a few shots, send them off to modeling agencies to try and get modeling representation. -

GO TO OPEN CALLS AND MEET WITH MODELING AGENCIES
Contact modeling agencies and see when they have open calls. Take your portfolio with you. Even take some snap shots where you are not wearing any makeup, natural hair, and showing your personality. You could even take a few shots where you are wearing a simple outfit such as skinny jeans and a tank top so that the modeling agent can see your body. -

APPLY TO MODELING JOBS
If you don't hear back from modeling agencies, don't get upset. Be proactive and try and jumpstart your modeling career yourself. While waiting for a modeling agency to contact you, you can learn how to model by actually completing modeling jobs. The more modeling jobs you complete, the more you will feel comfortable working with photographers and modeling clients. Find a list of free casting calls and auditions and apply for modeling jobs.
