How to Make a Car Air Freshener With Soap
After cleaning your car, you want it to continue smelling fresh. But long-lasting, store-bought air fresheners can be expensive and they might not fit in with the color or ambiance of your car. Creating your own air freshener takes only a few minutes, and it slides directly under your seats.
Things You'll Need
- Bar of fresh smelling soap (unused)
- Two or three plastic zip baggies
- Knife
- Scissors
- Cheese grater
Instructions

1
Open your bar of soap and place it on a hard surface. Use your knife to cut the bar of soap in half.
-
2
Use a cheese grater to shred the soap into a plastic bag. Do this for both halves, and place each half into its own baggie.

-
3
Zip the bags and release all air from the bags. Use a pair of scissors to cut about four to five small holes in the baggie to let the fragrance out.
-
4
Place these plastic baggies of soap underneath the seats in your car. Replace with new soap shavings once every three to four weeks or whenever the fragrance becomes lighter.

Tips & Warnings
Experiment with different kinds of soap in order to achieve the desired smell in your car. For example, try orange and coconut soap for a tropical smell.
