How to Change Your Domain Name
Sometimes when you are operating a website, you may experience the need to change your domain name. One might think that in order to change a domain name, you would have to create a website from scratch to go along with the new name. To the contrary, you can actually keep your existing website and forward your new name to your old address.
Instructions

-
1
Sign up for a new domain name through a domain registrar, such as NetFirms or GoDaddy. You can also purchase a new domain name through your current registrar.
-
2
Log in to your domain management "Control Panel" using the username and password provided to you by the registrar of your new domain name.
-
-
3
Select the option to "Park" your new domain name if you will not be associating a website with the new name.
-
4
Select the option to "Forward" your new domain name so that it points to your current website. By forwarding the domain name, whenever a visitor types in your new domain name, they are automatically directed to your existing website. Forwarding your new domain name will eliminate the need for having to design a new website to go along with your new name.
