How To Make Custom Labels & Tags
Custom labels and tags can make your fabric gifts seem more professional or can feature cute information for the recipient. You can also make custom labels for craft items that you sell online or at shows. Ordering custom labels can be expensive, but you can use printable fabric paper to make your own with your computer and inkjet printer. Most fabric stores, craft shops, and some office supply stores carry printable fabric.

Design your labels or tags in a word-processing or label-making programs. Place the fabric paper into the printer following the manufacturer's instructions.

Print the labels onto the paper using high-quality photo ink. Allow the ink to dry for 15 minutes.

Iron the top of the fabric on medium heat, going over every inch of the paper. Peel the paper backing off the labels.

Place the fabric into cold water and hand wash for 30 seconds. Gently squeeze out the excess water and blot dry with a towel.

Iron the fabric on medium heat until it is dry, then snip apart the labels with your scissors.

Pour a small amount of fray inhibitor onto a small saucer. Dip the edges of the fabric into it. Sew the completed labels and tags into your fabric items.

Tips & Warnings
Place the care instructions on the tags so they are always handy.
Only hand-wash fabric labels, never machine-wash.
