The origami lily is an elegant and beautiful flower. Origami itself has been around for centuries and some designs remain unchanged. The lily itself even shares some folds with the popular origami crane. Learn how to make an origami lily quickly with these few steps. You can even make a few lilies and turn them into a bouquet for a special someone.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pen or pencil (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Lay a piece of square paper in front of you pattern side up.

  2. Step 2

    Valley fold in half horizontally and vertically (with the pattern on the inside), crease, and open up.

  3. Step 3

    Mountain fold the paper in half diagonally to each corner (two diagonal lines) with the pattern on the outside. Crease the folds and open up.

  4. Step 4

    Push in the sides of the paper and begin collapsing the folds.

  5. Step 5

    Collapse the paper to form a triangle, crease, and lay on its back with the point up.

  6. Step 6

    Fold over the top layer of the right corner. Squash it to form a kite shape and crease.

  7. Step 7

    Fold the second top triangle over to and squash it like you did in step 6.

  8. Step 8

    Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the other side to form a kite shape.

  9. Step 9

    Fold the bottom corners of the first layer into the middle line and crease.

  10. Step 10

    Bring the top point down and crease.

  11. Step 11

    Open the fold, grab the top layer and fold back.

  12. Step 12

    Crease.

  13. Step 13

    Repeat steps 9-12 on the remaining three sides to form a smaller kite shape.

  14. Step 14

    Fold the top panel down to form a diamond shape and repeat for the remaining three sides.

  15. Step 15

    Fold the corners into the middle and crease.

  16. Step 16

    Repeat step 15 for the remaining three sides.

  17. Step 17

    Start opening the flower up and begin pulling the petals out and down.

  18. Step 18

    Wrap the petals around a pencil or pen to make them curve. You are finished.
