Using a jigsaw, cut out pieces according to the measurements given. Use the 2 pieces that are 6" x 6" and the two that are 6" x 8" and glue them together using a thin strip of wood glue along the sides. The 6" x 6" pieces will be on the outside of the ends as shown in the picture noted by A and B. Use the square to make sure the box is at right angles.

Assemble the 1" x 6" pieces and the 1" x 8" pieces in the same manner as the box, making a frame. After letting the wood glue dry and securing the pieces with brads, attach the other 6" x 8" piece to the top of this frame. Glue it to the frame and then secure with brads as you did the sides. This will be the lid.

Sand any rough spots on the box and add a clear polyurethane finish. Let dry completely. Put the hinges on the back of the lid 2 inches from the edge of the box using the screws that came with them and your Phillips screwdriver, then line up the hinges on the back of the jewelry box and attach them with the other two screws. Line with material if you choose or leave it plain.

Tips & Warnings
Embellishments can be added to the jewelry box if you want. A knob or clasp may also be added to the front.
If you add material to the inside, make sure it is glued down so that the trinkets you add will have a place to lay.
