How to Create Scorecards

A scorecard is a card used to keep track of game scores. Many board games come with a set of scorecards, but when they're gone, you have to purchase more. You can buy replacement scorecards for many games, but some games have customized scorecards specific to the game. Yahtzee is one of these games. You don't need to go out and spend money to get replacement scorecards for your games. Here's how you can make scorecards at home, using just your computer and a word-processing software.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your word processor or desktop publishing software. Be sure to use a program that can create tables. Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or WordPerfect are good choices. Go to the "Insert" menu and choose the "Table" option.

    • 2

Select the number of columns and rows you want for your table. Insert the table and peruse the set of predetermined design patterns until you find the look you want for your scorecard.

    • 3

Right-click on any row or column in the table to modify its height and width, then type in the text you want to include on your scorecard. This might be names of people or elements from the game the scorecard will be used with.

    • 4

Type the name of the scorecard above the table and use the font-formatting features to select font style, size and color.

    • 5

Save your scorecard as a template by going to the "File" menu and choosing the "Save As" feature, then selecting "Template." This will ensure you have the template ready for the next time you need it.

    • 6

Print your scorecard on standard computer printer paper.
