How to Clean a Flatbed Scanner Mirror
Your flatbed scanner is undoubtedly an important part of your daily work life, especially as more and more offices transform to paperless. Cleaning any computer hardware is often nerve-wracking, but the flatbed scanner is definitely one of the scariest pieces of equipment to maintain. Cleaning doesn't have to be difficult and isn't required too frequently. All it takes is a little patience, a mild glass cleaner and a soft cloth.

Unplug your scanner from the wall and any computer. Disconnect all removable cords. Ensure that the scanner is on a flat surface and will not fall as you clean.

Open the lid of the scanner. Spray the cleaner on your cloth, and apply to the scanner glass. Move in small circles and use mild pressure. Do not use anything other than the aforementioned cleaners on the scanner glass, especially water.

Allow the cleaner to dry. This can take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. When it is completely dry, plug all cords back in.

Run a test scan. If you observe any smudges, fingerprints or lines, clean it again. Wipe the glass with the dry side of the cloth to prevent water spots.
