Instructions

  1. The Steps

    • 1

Choose a room in your house that will be used as your gym. A spare bedroom or basement would be ideal. You will need plenty of room to store all your equipment and to do the exercises you need to do.

    • 2

Decide which part of the room you will be using for your weight exercises. You will need to section off a portion of the room to do all your free weight exercises and to keep the weights, weight bar, and weight bench out of your way while you do other stretches and exercises.

    • 3

Place square mats all around the sectioned off part of the room. These mats help provide cushion for your feet as well as protecting the floor from damage should a weight be dropped on the floor.

    • 4

Place your treadmill on the opposite side of the room from your free weights. This will keep your treadmill from being damaged by weights as well as allowing you to have more open space in the center of your gym.

    • 5

Clear the center of the room and use it for stretching, warm ups and other aerobic or cardio work. This is an ideal place to do exercises with your exercise ball.

    • 6

Put a TV and a stereo in your home gym. Watching television while working out on the treadmill or listening to music is a great distraction from all the aches and pains of working out and getting in shape.
