Things You'll Need:
- Level
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Drill
- Screwdriver
- Wall clips
- Wire shelving
- Vertical supports
-
Step 1
Mark horizontal lines on the wall at the heights your shelves will be mounted. Measure up from the floor with a tape measure, and double check how level the lines are with a carpenter's level.
-
Step 2
Mount wall clips into the wall. The clips hold the back side of the shelves against the wall. Depending upon the type of wall you'll be mounting the clips into. If you're mounting into solid wood, use wood screws. For drywall, use hollow wall anchors or toggle bolts. Space the clips one foot apart.
-
Step 3
Snap the wire shelves onto the clips and let them hang down against the wall.
-
Step 4
Assemble the front support posts for the shelving. Mount a clip onto each post at the height of each shelf. There will be predrilled holes in the posts at predetermined heights, or you can drill your own mounting holes if the heights of your shelves differ from those. Screw each clip in with a sheet metal screw.
-
Step 5
Working from one end, lift the uppermost shelve up away from the wall, and clip it into the vertical support. Now go to the far end of the shelves and do the same. Clip in the intermediate posts if necessary, and then attach the other shelves to the vertical supports, working down from the top.
