Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the pliers by the handle and place them over the metallic cylinder that connects the hose to the washer in the rear. This is normally found on the lower right-hand side of the washer, and is quite hard to miss due to it being one of only three hoses attached to the washing machine. Turn the pliers while they are on the hose in a counter-clockwise direction to loosen the grip. Remove the hose from the washer by simply pulling it straight out and away from the washer.

    • 2

Hold up the hose toward a light, and look inside to see if there is any visible clog in it. If there is not, a plumber must be contacted to track down the clog in your sewage system in the home. If there is a clog, grab the coat hanger and place one end inside the hose. Most hoses are no more than 2 feet long, and your coat hanger should be straightened so that it will reach this length.

    • 3

Wiggle the coat hanger around the entire inside of the hose while holding over a bucket. This will help to push out the clog and loosen it from the walls of the hose.

    • 4

Take your hose to a water source and rinse the entire inside of the hose out completely. To replace the washer drain, simply reverse step 1.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some washer drains are located in the floor or wall and are connected to the sewage system in your home. These are not to be worked on by anyone other than a licensed plumber.
