How to Clean Dirty Wood
Whether it's floors or furniture, wood eventually gets dirty. Dirt gets tracked into the home and we don't seem to notice until there's enough of it to be obvious. If you think cleaning wood is hard work, there are several simple ways that make it easier than you may think. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Broom
- Soft clean cloth
- Murphy Oil Soap
- Hydrogen peroxide
- baking soda or baby powder

Sweep dirt off of floors or flat surfaces with a broom or clean cloth before washing the wood with a clean cloth soaked in Murphy Oil Soap.

Soak a clean cloth in hydrogen peroxide and place it on a wooden surface that your pet has urinated on. Allow the area to soak for at least an hour and replace the cloth as needed until there is no trace left.

Pour baking soda or baby powder onto an area that has come into contact with grease. The baking soda or baby powder will help to draw the grease out of the wood. Sweep up the powder after at least four hours and wipe the area with a clean cloth dipped in Murphy Oil Soap.

Use a clean damp cloth to wipe away loose dirt, dust and any debris that may have become stuck to the wood. For areas with tough-to-remove dirt and grime, soak the area with oil soap for 15 to 20 minutes before wiping it up with a clean cloth.
