It’s that time of year for fun grill outs and out door picnics; a good thing to remember but is often overlooked is how quick food can spoil and make you sick if you don’t take the right precautions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Common sense
  1. Step 1

If you are going to be grilling meat especially poultry, do not let it sit out in the summer heat for more than one hour after it has been cooked; it could make you ill.

  2. Step 2

Some people think it’s okay to leave condiments sitting out at a picnic but condiments like mayonnaise that contain egg products can spoil quickly and possibly make you ill if consumed.

  3. Step 3

Make sure to keep some sort of covering on all of your picnic goodies because insects like flies can contaminate any food it lands on. Flies carry many germs because they will feast on almost anything and then host on your dinner leaving behind their nasty germs.

  4. Step 4

Always use serving spoons and forks when handling all food even stuff like sliced tomatoes, onions, pickles, etc. to reduce the chance of spreading germs. These are just a few tips for having a healthy picnic; I’m sure you can add a few of your own.
