A grouping of different framed pictures or paintings can make a great visual centerpiece to a room, but arranging the photos and hanging them the way you want can be a difficult chore. Rather than lift, move and hold all those different, possibly heavy frames, you can make the arrangements using paper outlines of the same size and shape. These outlines of the frames will also help you mark where on the wall to hammer the nail or drill the screws.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Trace framed pictures on newspaper or craft paper.

Newspaper is free but may leave black smudges on the wall and certainly on your hands.

  2. Step 2

Label each shape that you trace with a description of the picture. The cut out each shape.

  3. Step 3

Use blue painters tape to stick the squares to the wall in different arrangements until you find a grouping that pleases you.

Painter's tape is has an adhesive that will stick but not leave a sticky mark when removed. It was created to be stuck on walls and removed safely.

  4. Step 4

Keeping the paper on the wall, install the screws, nails, or picture hanger.

If you put the nails through the paper, you will be sure to put the holes in the right place and since the outlines are labeled, you'll be sure to remember which picture goes where.

  5. Step 5

Once the hooks are in place, tear away the paper and hang the picture.
