Avoid Overtraining

There are many people who get so excited that they found a gym and just got there gym card that they want to lift everything and anything they can. Lifting too much too often can actually damage your muscles and make you feel like a rubber band. It is very easy to overtrain your body but you will have to if you want to have a healthy life. Here are some tips to not over train.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Only spend a certain amount of time at your gym or workout session. You should keep a watch handy and give yourself only an hour to do everything. Also, you do not need to go every single day as your body will need time to rest. You should limit your self to no more then 5 days a week at an hour for the workout session.

  2. Step 2

Always let your muscles recuperate. You can try to tell yourself "No pain, no gain" but truthfully if you muscles are aching the day after you trained give them a rest. Try to drink water and maintain a healthy diet on your much needed day off.

  3. Step 3

You will need to sleep if you want to stay healthy. You body and mind need enough sleep to function properly and so you can get the best workout. A great night of sleep lasts about 8 hours.

  4. Step 4

Take a nice hot shower before and after you go to the gym. Before so you can warm up your body and release toxins. After so you can give your muscles a nice release and so you don't smell. Also, try giving your muscles a small massage if you can.

  5. Step 5

Try stretching your muscles so you can reduce any injury to them.
