Get an Online Degree in Education!

Getting an online degree in education can open all kinds of doors in administration, private educational leadership opportunities, pay raises, you name it! Even if you simply want to increase your classroom skills you'll find that most school districts will pay additional money to teachers with master's degrees, which is one of the most common online educational degrees out there. If you live in a town without a university, or simply want the convenience of an online degree, getting an online degree in education makes sense.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get your transcripts in order before you apply.

  2. Step 2

Investigate the school you are applying to. Ask your human resources department if an online degree in education from that institution is acknowledged by your district. A basic rule of thumb: Anything that sounds too good to be true, is.

  3. Step 3

Have a talk with the school's enrollment counselor about your goals. That person can make sure that you qualify to enroll in a program for an online degree in education.

  4. Step 4

Figure out how much time you will have to devote to your education degree. If you do not have very much time in your day, make sure that you will have enough time to finish your degree if you are taking part in a part-time online degree in education.

  5. Step 5

Look for an educational degree program that requires some hands-on experience. It is next to impossible to gain good skills in a classroom or administrative environment if you are only doing online coursework.

  6. Step 6

An online degree in education can be expensive. Make sure that you have access to financial aid. Another good thing to do is to look at how much the program will cost and compare it with your projected future increase in earnings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't fall for a hard sell. Online universities can be very competitive, and you want the one that will help the most in advancing your career in education.
