Things You'll Need:
- Brackets.
- Foam.
- Duct Tape.
-
Step 1
First of all, it's very rare for any A.C. to completely fit into a window, and eliminating the need of further insulation. Usually some sort of insulation is required afterwards to completely seal the air holes. Even a cave man can do that.
-
Step 2
Now there are two ways to install an A.C. either you can simply use brackets to support and prevent it from falling on someone's head or in some cases altitude of curb outside window isn't high enough for brackets, in which case you will have to use wood, bricks, or anything large and long enough to support an A.C. enough so it doesn't fall.
-
Step 3
Once nailed into its positions, it's time to insulate it for which I recommend using foam. For two reasons 1) It's a good insulators and don't get affected much by rain. 2) It's convenient to acquire it. You can get this from either any old chair and sofa, or simply buy some from dollar store. After you have foam and tape here is what you will need to do, there are to extendible parts of A.C. on each side of it. Fastened them. Then lock them in their place by a support of top window. Now stuff form on sides and seal them with A.C.
-
Step 4
The bottom line is it all depends on your creativity, just remember your goal while installing An A.C.:
> Fix it properly so it doesn't fall outside, and has to be leaned a bit outward so the water falls outside as well.
> Surroundings is properly and completely insulated so that no air, insects, and rain could pass. Also, look beautiful instead of an ugly stain on beauty of room.
> Finally, it has access to a power switch.
Keep these in mind and you will come with ways even from which you wouldn't be aware.
