Step 1
Stop living in the emergency lane. The first step in stress management is to stop sweating the small stuff. Perhaps there is no need to go so fast, step out of the emergency lane and enjoy life a bit. Stop over exaggerating events and focus on stress relief.
-
Step 2
Do not dwell on problems and personal issues for to long at a time. The more you think about your problems the worse they may seem to be, perhaps causing more unwanted stress in your life. Practice letting go and releasing negative energy from your world. Do not hold onto issues for any longer than needed.
-
Step 3
Rate your problems before you react. Before you even allow an issue in your life to be expressed, think about it for a moment, rate it on a scale from 1-10 to determine if it is a reasonable reaction. You may be surprised that once you make your thoughts slow down that you have more stress management in your life.
-
Step 4
Do not hide your pain. Release if from inside of you to aide in stress relief. If you bottle up emotion you may actually be adding more stress to your life. Life may be to short to not express your feelings, use your stress management skills. Understand that most people are not out to get you and many times you are less alone than you think you are.
