First measure your room so you will know how much crown molding to purchase at your local home improvement store. Depending on how long the crown molding is, you may have to rent a truck or find someone who has one if you do not own a truck. Crown molding is anywhere from 8ft to 16ft long. 8ft long is usually a good size for a standard size room. However, you will need to decide which is best for you.

After bringing the crown molding home, line it up against the floor so you will see how much you may have to cut off with the table saw to fit in the corners.

Next put the joint compound on the back of your crown molding so you can adhere the crown molding to the wall. This may take two pepple to properly install on the wall evenly. Wipe up any joint compound that may ooze out.

4
Continue with the other crown molding pieces making sure that the corners match together. If there are any little gaps don't worry, just put a little of the joint compound in between.
-
5
Now using a stud finder, hammer in nails at the bottom of the crown molding angling them upward so they will stay in place. Put nails about every 12 inches.
-
6
The next day, sand and prime the crown molding if you did not buy crown molding that was already pre primed. If you did, go head and paint. Make sure to apply painters tape around the bottom and top of your crown molding so you won't get paint on the walls or the ceiling.
