Things You'll Need:

  • Sunburn
  1. Step 1

Stay out of the sun. Further sun exposure will further damage the skin, irritate the sunburn, and prolong the pain.

  2. Step 2

Help speed natural healing. Stay hydrated. Eat foods high in vitamin c, beta carotene, vitamin E or flax seed oil.

  3. Step 3

Relieve the pain and swelling. Anti-inflammatory over the counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen can help. Topical ointments containing lidocaine can help with the pain of your sunburn.

  4. Step 4

Use an aloe vera plant to soothe the pain. Try an aloe vera gel if you don't have a plant.

  5. Step 5

Try at home remedies. Sliced cucumbers or cool, used tea bags help soothe the sunburn. Soak in a baking soda bath but do not towel dry. All can help with the pain of your sunburn.
