Eljer Risotto enameled cast iron kitchen sinks, like most enameled cast iron sinks, are typically not difficult to clean. This is especially true if you rinse them after each use and avoid leaving wine, coffee, tea, marinara sauce or red fruit juices in them, as all of these can leave stains on the enamel. With proper and frequent cleaning, your sink will remain beautiful for many years.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Non-abrasive sponge
  • Vinegar
  • Cloth towel
  1. Step 1

Fill the sink with several inches of warm water. Add a tablespoon of liquid dish detergent to the water.

  2. Step 2

Dampen a soft kitchen sponge in the water. Scrub the faucet and around the faucet fixtures first.

  3. Step 3

Scrub the sides and bottom of each sink basin. Add more dish detergent if the sink is exceptionally dirty.

  4. Step 4

Let the water drain out of the sink. Scrub it again with a warm soapy sponge.

  5. Step 5

Run warm water and rinse the sponge (or get a clean one). Rinse the detergent off the faucet fixtures and the sink basins.

  6. Step 6

Pour white vinegar on a clean sponge and wipe down the faucet and the entire sink. Buff it all dry with a soft towel. Vinegar will remove soapy residue and leave the enamel sparkling.

Tips & Warnings
  • Treat stains on the enamel by scrubbing hard with a soapy sponge; alternatively, apply baking soda to a sponge and gently rub the stain until it is removed (for small stains, use a soft-bristled toothbrush). If your sink is white enamel, you may , alternatively, pour a little bleach on the stain--wear rubber gloves if you do this and avoid splashing the bleach on your skin or in your eyes.
  • Avoid leaving pots and pans in an enamel sink. These can leave rust spots, which are difficult to remove.
