A conference call is one in which multiple people can join in one conversation on the phone. They are designed so that the person or organization hosting the call can provide one phone number for the desired participants to call in order to join the conference. Although specialized phone providers are normally used for those who host conference calls, you can use Internet-based phone providers such as Skype in order to join a regular conference call on the Internet. The cost of using Internet-based providers to join a conference call is the same rate as calling a land-based phone line.
