Things You'll Need:
- Fleece
- Pen or pencil
- Cell phone
- Straight pins
- Needle and thread
- Elastic
- Big button
-
Step 1
Trace your cell phone twice on the back side of a piece of fleece. You can use any fabric, but fleece doesn't require a hem at the open edge. This makes the project easy for beginners or kids.
-
Step 2
Trace a second line around each phone outline 1/4 inch past the boundaries of your first line. If your cell phone is more than 1/2-inch thick, you may want to extend that 1/4 inch even wider. Fleece stretches a little, so don't be too concerned if you think it will be a little snug.
-
Step 3
Cut out both phone outlines using the second line as a guide. Lay the pieces together with the pretty sides facing. This is what your phone cover will look like inside out. Pin the pieces together with straight pins so it doesn't shift while you're sewing.
-
Step 4
Stitch each piece together along the inside line, leaving one side open. If you have a flip phone, an iPhone or a BlackBerry, leave one of the narrow ends open. if you have a wide-keyboard phone for texting, leave one of the wide sides open.
-
Step 5
Turn your fabric cell phone holder right-side out and stitch an elastic loop to one side and a button to the other to close it up.
