An NCO file is one used by the program Nero Back It Up It is a compressed backup version of a CD or DVD that users can make in case their own CDs or DVDs are damaged or lost. The file has been compressed, and in order to change the file type back to the original files inside the NCO, you'll need to decompress it once more. The best program to do this is likely the program that was originally used to compress it: Nero.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nero software
  1. Step 1

Visit a website where you may download the Nero compression program (See Resources).

  2. Step 2

Click on the download links until the download screen appears. Click on "Safe File" to begin downloading the installation file.

  3. Step 3

Double-click on the installation file once you've found it. This file should be on your desktop or "My Downloads" folder once it finishes downloading.

  4. Step 4

Go through the installation process, which will include declaring a directory for your program.

  5. Step 5

Right-click on your NCO file and choose the option "Open with Nero Back It Up". The program will launch automatically, and you can now change the file type back to the files originally stored in the NCO, and access them.
