NetZero is an affordable way to get your iBook online.

You've just purchased a brand-new iBook and now you're ready to go online. What service will you choose for your Internet access? More and more people are turning to NetZero because of its affordable plans. According to an April 2009 msnbc.com article, NetZero and sister company Juno together have 1.5 million paid subscribers. Currently, NetZero offers its Platinum service for Mac subscribers, which (as of June 2009) starts at $9.95 a month for unlimited access and does not require a yearly contract. Best of all, installation is simple. In a few easy steps, you can get NetZero on your iBook.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a copy of the NetZero software (see Resources). You will need to create an account to download the software.

Run the NetZero installation program on your iBook by double-clicking on the NetZero icon on your desktop.

    • 3

Log in to NetZero using the member name and password you selected when you downloaded the software. Choose the way you will be connecting to the Internet--either from a landline or a cable modem.

    • 4

Enter the telephone number you will be dialing in from. Choose dial-up numbers that are in your local calling area from the list of NetZero providers.

    • 5

Click on the "Connect" button to get your iBook online. The NetZero homepage should appear. You are now ready to surf!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't currently have Internet access for your iBook, you can download the software on another computer, burn it to a disc and then install on your iBook. If you must download the software on another computer, make sure you select the Mac version. NetZero's website will know if you are visiting from a PC and will set that as your default platform preference.
