In the United States, the standard unit of measure for temperature is Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit is based on the principal that liquids freeze at 32 degrees Fahrenheit and boil at 212 degrees Celsius. In most other countries, Celsius is considered the standard unit of measure for temperature. Celsius is based on the principal that water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius and boils at 100 degrees Celsius. To convert temperatures in Celsius to Fahrenheit, you will need to multiple the temperature in Celsius by 1.8 and add 32 degrees. The result is the temperature in Fahrenheit.

  • Calculator
  1. Step 1

Determine the temperature in Celsius to be converted. For this example, the temperature to be converted will be 50 degrees Celsius.

  2. Step 2

Multiply the temperature in Celsius by 1.8 or 9/5. For this example, 50 multiplied by 1.8 equals 90.

  3. Step 3

Add 32 to the number obtained in Step 2 to determine the original temperature's value in Fahrenheit. For this example, the sum of 90 and 32 is 122. Therefore, 50 degrees Celsius is equal to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
