Stainless steel is a coating that does not rust, corrode or stain. This material is popular in household as well as business kitchens. Stainless steel appliances have a longer life span when properly maintained. This includes ovens. When you bake or cook a family dinner, spillage from food or sauces can become a large mess. Clean a stainless steel oven at least once a week to prevent damage as well as protect against bacteria.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Towel
  • Oven cleaner
  • Sponge
  1. Step 1

Purchase a stainless steel oven cleaner, such as Mr. Muscle Oven & Grill Cleaner or Easy-Off Oven & Grill Cleaner.

  2. Step 2

Moisten the towel with your shower by using the shower mist to moisten it. Turn the water to the hottest setting without burning your hands. Do not get the towel soaking wet. Take the towel to the stainless steel oven. Place on the bottom in the inside. Close the door. Wait roughly 30 minutes. The steam and dampness from the towel will soften stuck-on particles and grease.

  3. Step 3

Use the soft side of the sponge to wipe down the oven. Throw any debris into the garbage can; do not let the particles go down the sink. Rinse thoroughly and continue to wipe to remove as much debris as possible.

  4. Step 4

Spray the cleaner. Saturate the sides, back and bottom of the oven. In addition, spray the oven door with the cleaner. Close the oven door and wait approximately three or four hours. If any food or grease particles remain stuck on, allow the cleaner to sit overnight.

  5. Step 5

Rinse the sponge. Rub down the oven to remove the cleaner. Wipe in rows. Wash the sponge off with hot water after each row. Continue until the stainless steel oven is thoroughly clean. Remember to wipe off the oven door in the same manner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Various oven-cleaning products are available at local retail stores. Check the label for exact directions and warnings. Purchase an oven cleaner that is non-abrasive and safe for stainless steel. Always use soft chemicals and cleaning tools on stainless steel. The coating can be damaged easily.
  • Do not allow a large amount of grease to go down the sink drain. This can obstruct the drain. Do not use metal to scrape stuck-on particles. Scratches will develop. Read oven-cleaner directions carefully.
