Things You'll Need:
- Beverages, ice, disposable cups and markers Kids games or activities Party games or cards Catering or a main dish Seating in two areas
-
Step 1
Make arrangements to serve a meal. Hire a catering company if that's within your group's budget, or prepare a main dish such as baked ham or lasagna and ask guests to bring sides and desserts. Even singles who don't normally cook for themselves will prepare and bring their best dishes.
-
Step 2
Have several choices of drinks. Brew multiple pots of coffee, make pitchers of lemonade and iced tea and have several varieties of soda. Don't forget to have plenty of ice and disposable hot and cold cups. Keep markers handy for guests to label their cups.
-
Step 3
Make accommodations for children. Single parents often won't attend an event if they can't bring their kids. Set up a playroom for kids or put up a badminton net in the yard. Have plenty of soft drinks for younger guests.
-
Step 4
Set up seating in two areas. Use two rooms of your house or one room and an outdoor area. Couples trying to avoid each other will both be able to enjoy the party from different spots.
-
Step 5
Arrange furniture for activities. Set up a big card table, or move furniture to opposite sides of a room to make space for team games. Plan games that allow for bantering and conversation.
-
Step 6
Plan for a late night. A successful singles event will last well into the evening. If all goes well, your guests won't want to leave.
