      From Boston, take the Red Line toward Alewife.

      Take the MBTA's Red Line to Harvard Square to begin your visit.

      Visit the famous Statue of Three Lies in Harvard Yard -- and touch John Harvard's foot only if you dare!

      Tour Harvard University's campus in the famous Harvard Yard. Admire the gorgeous architecture of the United State's oldest university. Unofficial Tours offers free visits (tip encouraged).

      Inside the Algiers Cafe.

      Take a coffee break. Visit Algiers Cafe on Brattle Street for a North African coffee experience. Or swing by Tealuxe for gourmet hot and iced tea offerings.

      Find books inside Harvard's bookstore, the Harvard Coop.

      Browse through used books at Lame Duck or Raven; foreign books at Schoenhof's; general interest books at the Harvard Coop or the Harvard Book Store.

      Mr. Bartley's, the classic Harvard Square burger joint.

      Break for lunch at Mr. Bartley's, famous for hamburgers and Boston "frappes" (milkshakes); at the Arrow Street Creperie, with its unique French-inspired crepe selections; or any number of other local restaurants.

      Go shopping. Check out the quirky stores along Brattle Street, Church Street, Mt. Auburn Street, and inside the Garage shopping center on Dunster Street.

      Take a happy hour break and sip margaritas at the Border Cafe, or beer at Charlie's Beer Garden or John Harvard's Brew House.
