Find out how to take free CPR classes

More and more jobs and occupations require employees to know CPR. If you've never taken classes before, the good news is there are free CPR classes you can register for, learn and get certified. CPR certification is not only good to have because it's required, you could one day save a life. Read on to learn how to get free CPR classes that offer certification upon completion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Contact the American Red Cross. The Red Cross offers free CPR classes in communities all over the United States on given days. The classes are usually offered on Saturday's and are free of charge. The great thing about the Red Cross is that they also offer classes in languages other than English.

  2. Step 2

Contact the American Heart Association. This year, the American Heart Association hopes to train 1 million people through free CPR classes. Just as with the Red Cross, you sign up, train on the appointed day, and get certified.

  3. Step 3

Call your local hospital. Hospitals offer CPR training during parenting classes and other programs ran by local doctors and health care workers. Call the hospital to find out if there are any classes scheduled in the near future.

  4. Step 4

Contact your local Health Department. Often times, the local Health Department gets other organizations to come into the county to give CPR training. Call the Health Department and ask about free CPR classes that may be available to you.

  5. Step 5

Get certified online. If you are already certified and need a renewal, or if you've never taken any classes before, you can do it online. Free CPR classes are just a click away. Best of all, you can do it when it's convenient for you. See Additional Resources below.

Tips & Warnings
  • Contact one or all of the organizations listed above. Make sure to tell them that you are interested in free CPR classes offered by that particular organization. Get the closest date possible for certification.
