This article will show how to quickly and inexpensively cover an exterior wall that has become unsightly and so bad that even painting it won't help any more. This area had termite damage as well. Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sheets of lauan to cover
  • Straight edge
  • Tape measure, pencils
  • Square
  • Method of cutting, saw
  • Method of fastening. your choice, screws or nails
  • Paint
  1. Step 1

    Prepare the area by clearing obstructions like downspouts etc. Sometimes there have been things added to the wall that are no longer needed so of course these things should be removed and not replaced.

  2. Step 2

    Starting the lauan convering

    Cut and fit the sheets of lauan and nail them to the wall. In this case pin nails were used driven in by an air powered nail gun.

    Continue the same cutting and fitting as you put up more sheets down the wall.

  4. Step 4

    Cut some strips from a sheet of lauan about 2 1/4 inches wide to use for trim strips top and bottom and nail them in place.

  5. Step 5

    Paint the wall with two coats of a good exterior paint.

    All finished in less than a day which included going to purchase the supplies.
