An unhealthy colon and intestinal tract is lined with mucoid plaque and toxins that are being reabsorbed into our blood stream. The American diet is filled with refined sugar and meat, which can sit and putrefy in your colon. A proper colon cleanse will detoxify your system, and can even lead to weight loss, as previously digested food and waste is prompted to exit the body. Having a healthy colon is essential to overall physical health, and an occasional colon cleanse is an essential step in taking care of your body.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • fresh lemon juice
  • water
  • ground flaxseeds
  • psyllium husks
  • bentonite clay
  • raw vegetables and fruit
  1. Step 1

Drink a cup of water with fresh lemon juice first thing in the morning to help detoxify your body. Do not drink lemonade that contains sugar or sweeteners.

  2. Step 2

Add fiber to your diet by drinking two tablespoons of psyllium husks with water twice each day. You should have a regular bowel movement each day, and you need sufficient fiber in order to do so. Otherwise, digested food and waste will sit stagnant in your colon and emit toxins into your bloodstream.

  3. Step 3

Eat more raw vegetables and fruits each day, and cut out dairy, processed foods, sugar, caffeine, and meat, from your diet. Some people choose to go on an exclusively vegetarian raw foods diet during a colon cleanse.

  4. Step 4

Add bentonite clay and fresh ground flaxseeds to your diet by drinking a tablespoon of each in a glass of water in the morning 30 minutes before you eat, and again right before bed. Bentonite clay is edible clay that absorbs water, expands into a gel, binds to toxins and pesticides, and helps flush them out of your system. Flaxseeds absorb water as well, and remove toxins and mucous from your colon.

  5. Step 5

Consume probiotics to help replenish the good bacteria that aid in the digestion of your food. The healthy and beneficial bacteria can be flushed out of your system during a colon cleanse, so you should add them back to your system by consuming them. Probiotics can be purchased at health food stores, and are found naturally in certain foods.

  6. Step 6

Drink extra water while doing a natural intestinal and colon cleanse. Adding extra fiber to your diet without drinking sufficient water can actually cause constipation.

  7. Step 7

Go to a natural foods store or search online for natural intestinal and colon cleanse products that aid in an efficient cleansing process. Many colon cleanse products contain psyllium, bentonite, flaxseed, and other fibrous ingredients, that are already combined in powder or pill form and easily consumed.

Tips & Warnings
  • As toxins leave your system you may feel fatigued or nauseous. Consult a doctor if you experience any adverse reactions to an intestinal and colon cleanse.
