The first step to controlling the odor of a dog or cat inside the home, is to establish a permanent sleeping place.
The second step is to wash the animals bedding often. If the has slept on the carpet, you will need to scatter baking soda or a carpet deodorizer designed for animal odors. Then vacuum.
The third step is to keep your animal well groomed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    For abnormal body odors
If your dog or cat has an extra strong body odor even when it is well groomed, consult your vet. It could be a skin disorder known as seborrhea, and ear infection or an impaction of the anal glands in dogs.

  2. Step 2

    Cleaning up a mess
If the animal messes up in the house, scoop it up and blot the area with a paper towel. Apply vinegar, lemon juice, or ammonia to neutralize the stain.

  3. Step 3

Scrub the area with soap and water to remove the smell.
