Things You'll Need:
- Patience
- Smarts
- Light topics to talk about
- Self respect and restraint
-
Step 1
Don't Take It PersonalThis issue belongs to her and not you. Just don't add to the problem, add to solving it. You already know that she is out to get you, so be smart and extra cautious around her. When someone is jealous of you at work, the last thing you want to do is take her on or give her something to talk about.
-
Step 2
See How She Treats Her Other EnemiesTake a lesson out of their book and stay away. If you see that she is prying about your personal life, throw her a bone about something easy like your one of favorite movies or restaurants. Nothing will make you more of a target than being too evasive or standoffish.
-
Step 3
Make Sure The Rest Of The Team Likes YouAs long as other people see that you are a good team member, talented and friendly, you will be fine. Even though people flip their opinions at work like pancakes, no one can deny a hard worker. Avoid taking sides or mixing into the gossip. If you agree or give an opinion about something being talked about, you are now a gossip accomplice!
-
Step 4
Pay Attention To Her TrainingIf she has to train you, stay cool and listen to her. Let her train the daylights out of you and ask questions. Don't be robotic and nod in agreement with everything. If she decides to break the ice, ask her a question and see how it goes. Remember a good chuckle doesn't mean she's changed her mind about you, nor should you let your guard down around her. Be a sponge and observe others and ask them questions. Make sure it doesn't overlap with her training. It might get back to her and she could take it as an insult.
-
Step 5
Stand Your GroundThe last test will be based on you. She thinks because you've been so quiet that you don't have a life or a back bone. Queen Bee was so sure about how she sized you up, that she challenged you one day and you stung her back. Whether she likes it or not, you have officially joined the team.
-
Step 6
Start A New JobIf this is a job to pay the bills then see it through until you find something better. Keep it to yourself and assess what you truly aspire doing with your life. Do you want to be your own boss or work more flexible hours? Try commission based jobs like real estate or working in hospitality. The best revenge to dealing with your jealous coworker - will be success.

on 8/16/2009 Good article. It's so true that the issue belongs to the jealous coworker. Therefore, the issue is not something worth the investment of too much emotional energy.
