If you have ever had a garden or greenhouse you know that aphids, white fly and other insects can become a real problem. Buying yellow sticky paper, fly paper or tacky paper can get expensive real fast, but did you know you can simply and easily make your own?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut a sheet of construction paper into approximately 4 rectangles
You can make them smaller if your situation warrants it.

Poke a hole in the top of each sheet near the middle and place a piece of twist tie wire into the hole so that you have a way to attach your finished sticky sheets to the surface you wish to place it.

  2. Step 2

Using a popsicle stick (or other such disposable item like a plastic dinner knife) spread some Tanglefoot on the front surface of the yellow paper, trying to get it as evenly spread as possible without getting the stuff on your fingers or hands.

  3. Step 3

Place the tacky paper near the plants you wish to protect and use the twist ties to secure them into place.

Insects are drawn to the yellow paper where they become stuck in the Tanglefoot.

When the card is full of insects, discard in regular trash, but you may want to place another piece of paper over the sticky part to prevent it from getting stuck to the inside of the trash can.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very careful not to get the Tanglefoot on your hands as it is very difficult to remove
