Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet of parchment paper over the cookie sheet.

    • 2

Allow your ice cream to reach a temperature where it is somewhat easy to scoop but not melting.

    • 3

Use your ice cream scoop to scrape across the top of the ice cream, nicely rolling it into a ball shape.

    • 4

Release the ice cream ball out of the scoop and re-form the shape into a ball with your hands if necessary.

    • 5

Put the ball on the parchment paper. After creating about six, place the cookie sheet in the freezer to re-freeze the ice cream into the new ball shape.

    • 6

Place the balls in a dessert dish to serve and top with hot fudge or another favorite ice cream topping.

    • 7

Pour chocolate that will harden over a well-frozen ice cream ball and place back in the freezer until solid. Or roll the ball in crushed pecans or chocolate candies. Serve the candy coated balls as a special dessert or as part of a sundae.

Tips & Warnings

  • For smaller, bite-size ice cream balls, use a cookie scoop in place of a standard ice cream scoop.

  • If you aren't going to use the ice cream balls within a couple hours, be sure to place them in an airtight container to prevent freezer burn.
